Judge Porteous Impeached!

I suppose being a Bad Judge is a fairly ordinary thing, but being an impeached U.S. District judge puts you in a whole other category (one of eight in US history.)  Word came late this moring that New Orleans U.S. District Judge Thomas Porteous was impeached by unanimous vote of the U.S. House of Representatives.  Here's the link to the story at NOLA.com the website of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.  

Bad Lawyer covered this story and you can read past articles at this link.  Porteous was a popular and apparently at one time, good judge whose gambling and alcohol addictions destroyed his career.  Sad.

Update on he Judge Porteous Impeachment

New Orleans Online features an update on the Thomas Porteous impeachment proceedings before the House of Representatives.  Porteous, a popular federal judge appointed by President Clinton will probably become only the 8th federal judge in US history to be impeached. 

I've previously posted about this Judge, and it looks pretty grim for him.  As you will recall, Porteous is being brought low by his addiction to alcohol and gambling--and all the rotten shit he did to service those addictions.  Tragic, yes.  Especially for the litigants who were screwed by his antics.
