Lexington, Ky. Human Rights Lawyer Under Arrest for "fisticuffs" following Vehicular Assault on Girlfriend

In what I am sure will turn out to be an alcohol or drug-fueled domestic violence incident, attorney J. Scott Benton is under arrest for attacking his girlfriend with an automobile and resulting "fisticuffs."   Benton, an interim counsel for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission is free on bond after being charged with wanton endangerment following a fight that left his girlfriend lying unconscious in the street according to a report at the Lousiville Courier-Journal.


"J. Scott Benton, who works at the Benton Law Offices, has been charged with wanton endangerment after the fisticuffs at about 2 a.m. . . Saturday.

Lexington police say Benton and a woman identifying herself as his girlfriend began arguing near downtownPolice said Benton drove his car at the woman just missing her. Officers said he then got out of his car with a gun and hit the woman, knocking her to the ground and causing unconsciousness.


Police said Benton got into his car and drove away, but eventually returned and was pointed out by several witnesses."
