L.A. Doctor In Road Rage Cycling Assault Case Sentencing Today

Dr. Christopher Thomspson, the L.A., California former emergency room doctor who was convicted on all counts of felony assault wtih a deadly weapon after nearly killing two cyclists along Mandeville Canyon Road in THE cycling case of recent years faces a Superior Court Judge in Los Angeles for sentencing today.  Prosecutors are asking for 8 years.  The Los Angeles Times has an eloquent and extensive report at the link.

This story was covered here at Bad Lawyer and by the great cycling publication Velo News and you can find their website here, where no doubt comments from the cycling community all over the world, can be read.  Since one of the managing editors of Velo News is veteran journalist and newly-minted good attorney, Charles Pelkey I expect excellent coverage and commentary.  Speaking of which, here's the link to Pelkey's story on the sentencing.

This guy still doesn't get it, his comments at sentencing attempts to share the blame: "cyclists and residents of Mandeville Canyon need to resolve their differences peacefully." No, you asshole, drivers of 2 ton motor vehicles need to refrain from using their cars as weapons.

  3. This arrogant doctor should be able to specialize in proctology when this is all over, don't you think?

  4. I like Charles Pelkey's commentary on the sentencing, since you've mentioned about him being a veteran journalist and, at the same time, a newly-minted lawyer.

By the way, kudos to the prosecutors' personal injury attorney. In Los Angeles, and all of the cities of the world have cyclists. They must have rejoiced when they've heard about this doctor being sentenced.

I remember one of my friends telling me about this doctor assaulting cyclists. That friend of mine happens to be a personal injury lawyer in Los Angeles. Kudos to the lawyer who helped the cyclists out.
