The New Orleans Times-Picayune has this editorial on the Danzinger Bridge Police cover-up of the murder and mayhem perpetrated by the police in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. If you don't know what I mean, this is as good a place to start looking at one of the great official racist crimes in the modern era in this country.
I plan to revisit this subject again soon, but let's begin with the fact that former New Orleans polic Lt. Michael Lohman has entered a felony guilty plea to covering up crimes by his forces in shootings of black and poor New Oreleanians in the week after Katrina.
Part of the story is also at this link.
